On the afternoon of December 3, 2011, the giant panda "Yang Guang" and "Tian Tian" set off to the Edinburgh Zoo of UK from the Yaan Bifengxia Base of CCRCGP for a ten-year joint research.  The two pandas will rest in the Chengdu Shuangliu Airport for one night and take the flight of Boeing 777 to Edinburgh directly at 9:40 am of December 4.  It is estimated that they will get to Edinburgh at Beijing time 9 pm of December 4.

At 2:30 pm, at the No. 2 Panda Villa, employees are busy with guiding the two pandas into special cages.   After into cages, the two pandas are carried onto a truck for departure.  Before their leaving, the CCRCGP holds a brief farewell ceremony for them.

To assure the two pandas to adjust to the new environment smoothly, Tang Chunxiang, assistant director of CCRCGP and Xie Hao, special keeper of "Yang Guang" and "Tian Tia", will escort the them to the Edinburgh Zoo to look after them till they adapt there.  Besides, the CCRCGP also prepares enough bamboo and Wowotou for them.

At the beginning of this year, China and UK signed a ten-year giant panda cooperative research agreement.  And the giant pandas "Yang Guang" and "Tian Tian" of the CCRCGP were selected.  To assure the two pandas to get to UK smoothly, both China and UK made full preparation.  According to the requirements, the CCRCGP made quarantine for the two pandas and arranged special keepers to look after them.  Besides, regular physical examination was made.  To make the two panda get better care and adjust to the environment as soon as possible, the Edinburgh Zoo dispatched experienced keepers to the CCRCGP to learn.  The zoo also built a panda house with pools.  The two sides also launched a joint laboratory to strengthen scientific research and promote the development of giant panda conservation.

The two pandas are like their names.  "Yang Guang" is bright, handsome, strong, active and confident.  And "Tian Tian" is a real lady, pretty, quiet, tame, pleasant and a little shy.  Currently, the two pandas are of good appetite, health and spirit.  "Yang Guang" is 126 kg and "Tian Tian" is 98 kg.
